I have had good success at finding expensive hardshell golf cases on craigslist used for about $40-$50 each.
They come in very handy if you're traveling with Photography gear like light stands, tripod, mono pod, boom mic and anything else you can fit in them especially for an airline flight.
Even if you don't have a lot of photography gear at the moment keep this in mind for future use.
Caution: Just be careful using Craigslist.
